This page provides a
detailed list of Minnesota's pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hay rides
and other Halloween farm stuff!! Just scroll down this
page! Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are
elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some
are simple roadside stands. All should have loads of pumpkins to choose
from. To really make it fun for your kids, look for those that have
the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride. There is
usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the more elaborate mazes
tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free.
ALWAYS call before you go to confirm all information, they don't always report changes to me!
We have loads of related resources
here, too.
On our Pick-your-own website, we also have pages with our own
simple
instructions on canning, freezing and drying many other fruits and
vegetables, such as how to make jam, apple
butter, applesauce, spaghetti
sauce, salsa, pickles,
ketchup or freezing
corn (these links open new pages, just close them to return here). Be sure to come back at Christmas if you are looking
for a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm!
Look at the bottom of the page for links to resources on home canning, picking
tips, recipes, etc..
I'm always looking for
more to add and feedback about any patch, stand or farm you have visited, so write me using the Feedback
form! And if you have
a farm and want to add it or correct the information, please click on Add My Farm!
Put the weather stuff here

Remember: ALWAYS call (or follow the link to the farm's own website, if the name
is a blue link) to confirm the information before you go! They may close,
run out or change events, times, etc. without notifying me!

writes on October 17, 2009: "I was on the search for a TRUE pick
your own pumpkin patch. We are relatively new to MN and have been to
"patches" where the venue has placed the pumpkins in an open field. I
saw the description of Dimler Pumpkin Patch which triggered my memories
of pumpkin picking as a child in PA. As soon as we drove up to Dimler, I
felt like a child again. Our three year old son had a blast walking
through the mud/dirt to find pumpkins still attached to their vines. A
huge parcel of land with tons of pumpkins and gourds. We found 5
beautiful pumpkins of varying shapes, colors and sizes. It was not
crowded and our experience was exactly as I wished. No fancy building of
gimmicks and overpriced anything. Dimler's worked on an honor system
with a box placed at the entrance. In this day and age something unheard
of which just solidified that some things still do exist for the fun and
love of it for relatively little money and without the fanfare and
commercial tie-ins. 5 stars for Dimler Pumpkin Patch. We will be back
next year for sure!!"

Visa/MasterCard, Discover. Annual Scarecrow Contest Held in September
running thru all of October. A visitor writes on October 15,
2009: "We have gone there the last three years, and have mostly
enjoyed it. After you pay $5.00 per person to get in, the scarecrow display
is cute, but not overly impressive. Most of the other activities are for
younger children (tractor trykes that pedal in a circle, slides, etc) and
besides the ponies that walk in a circle, the only other animal is a big sad
looking camel (the ponies and the camel cost extra). The hay pile for
jumping has been fun, but my kids get bored of it quickly. The pumpkins are
expensive, the restaurant is expensive too. We will find another patch this
year. It would be nice to have a hay maze or a petting zoo, and hopefully
one not as expensive for its activities or pumpkins."
Comments: One visitor wrote in
October 5, 2007: "I took my family to emma krumbee and I will never do it
again i had to pay 16dollars for my family for nothing and everythiing was
so expensive the apples were out ragously priced and there was nothing to do
for the money I paid and the pumpkins cost to much"
A visitor writes on September 20, 2008: "I would agree that Emma
Krumbees DOES have high prices and seems to "nickel & dime" people. They
have a reputation of being expensive. I would suggest going somewhere else
for lower prices & an equal amount of fun."
A visitor writes on October 01, 2008: "Emma
Krumbees charges $5 per person for entrance to the annual Scarecrow
Festival, which includes a little homemade kiddie train, mountain of hay to
climb on, free kids music, off-road trikes, a slide built into a hill, some
new climbing sets for the kids, a free but very brief wagon ride to the
pumpkin patch, and some animals. Things you pay extra for: pony rides, camel
rides, purchasing pumpkins, apples, strawberries, gourds, etc. They also
have a great gift shop and a bakery. The restaurant on the other side of the
orchard is very popular and can get pretty busy, but we've always enjoyed
it. Last weekend was our 4th annual family trip to Emma Krumbees, and we had
a great time! I definitely recommend it to anyone with kids - especially
those who like to play outside. "
A visitor writes on October 11, 2008:
"My husband and I went to Emma Krumbees yesterday and were very
disappointed. I had heard from others including my husband how cool the
Scarecrow Festival is, so we headed over there after having fun at the
Minnesota Harvest (which btw I do recommend). We arrived about 5:30ish and
they close at 6pm. I decided to pay the $5 per person to go in and check out
the scarecrows since I thought they would be impressive. Maybe a handful
were creative. Never again, they didn't have many and a lot of them were
repeats. I have never seen so many Michael Phelps in my life... Plus my
husband is wheelchair bound so we were not able to go ride through the
Orchard, the lady said she would check for us and but didn't get back with
us. Everything was kid oriented but since we do not have kids it was a total
waste of $10.... I thought I better warn all before paying $5 per person for
the Scarecrow Festival. "

or negative.
