I've tried to make the site intuitive and easy to use, but what
is simple to one person is complicated to another, so let me explain how it
works!
The pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hayrides,
Halloween events and other Fall activities are organized geographically, by
country then state (or province). On each state page, the farms/mazes etc.
are alphabetized by county. Of course if a state or province has many
events, I split it into separate pages, grouped geographically.
Each page has navigation buttons to help you move
to the major interests and area of the website. At the top left of each
page are these buttons:
 |
Home page |
 |
The purple button takes you to a page that lists each state (and
country). Choose the area you want to look in! |
 |
The green button leads to one of my other websites, PickYourOwn.org website, where you can
find pick your own orchards and farms |
 |
The blue button leads to my choose and cut-your-own Christmas tree
and winter activities website! Find a place to choose your own
Christmas tree and either cut it yourself, or have it cut for you!
Plus, sleigh rides and other winter events. |
 |
How to make pumpkin pies, pumpkin soup, etc, from fresh or canned
pumpkins! Each recipes has step by step instructions with a photo
of every step! These are very easy instructions that anyone can
follow to make really tasty stuff from fresh ingredients. There
are also links to our apple pie, homemade applesauce, apple butter
canning directions! If you can't follow these directions; lock up the
sharp objects and live in your closet... :) |
 |
Halloween supplies has carving kits, costumes, from reliable stores.
The prices are usually very competitive. |
 |
Fun, factual information about the history of Halloween. Lots
here for classrooms and children! |
On the top right of each page are these buttons:
 |
The feedback form opens a new
window so you can email me comments or ask questions! It asks your for the state and
county that you are asking about, and the name of the farm if you are
asking about a specific farm. I try to respond within 24 to 48 hours! |
 |
Suggest a farm allows you to
recommend a farm, maze, or event that I haven't got on the
website. the more information you can provide, the faster I can find
them and get them up! |
 |
Add your patch is for the
owners / operators of pumpkin patches, corn mazes, farms and other
events. It is free to add a listing! |
 |
The site table of contents or
site map, lists and links to all pages! Just like a table of
contents in the front of a book! |
 |
"Search the website" is a
search engine, mostly used to locate a unique word or phrase . It
searches every word on ever page of the website. It is not
the fastest or easiest way to find a farm, unless they have an unusual
name. Obviously, if you enter common words that appear on many pages
like "corn maze pumpkins" you'll get too many results to be meaningful.
For example, if you are looking for corn mazes in Montana, you would do
better to go directly to the Montana page from the "Start here to
find one" button. But if you want to find Oliver Wendell Douglas
Farm in Texas (which is a large state with many regional pages), you
might do better to use the Search button and enter "Douglas Texas" (withOUT
the quotes!); as that is a fairly unique combination. |
 |
What to expect has photos,
descriptions and tips about each type of event! You may find these pages
interesting and helpful to decide what features matter in the farm you
visit. for example , did you know that some corn mazes and pumpkin
patches have pig races? See an example on these pages! |
 |
This page! You are here (or
"there"...) |
I hope this helps!
