Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some are simple roadside stands.  All should have loads of pumpkins to choose from.  To really make it fun for  your kids, look for those that have the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride.  There is usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the  more elaborate mazes tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free. ALWAYS call before you go to confirm all information, they don't always report changes to me!

The kids had fun on the 4 moonwalks, petting zoo, hayride and maze. They even had camel rides! The pumpkins were all so pretty but no they weren't grown there. The farm prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be going back next year! Very happy we chose this farm to visit!"
  A visitor writes on October 19, 2010: "I went out to Pettit Creek Farms this past weekend, it's just down the road from me and despite the other "visitors comment", I thought it was fantastic!!!! Great farm fun, hayrides, petting zoo with a baby camel, sheep, goats, some animals you couldnt touch including a wallabies, porcupines, tortoise' and a huge snake!!! Had a blast with my kids on the 4 bounce moonwalks they had set up, the Maze was decent, and the Eurobungie, my new favorite ride! The employees were very nice and although the pumpkins clearly werent grown there, there were alot to choose from. and it was only 3$ to get in!!!!"
  A visitor writes on October 05, 2010: "I just want to inform others how disappointed me and my family were while visiting Pettit Creek Farms. I think it was over priced and not worth the money spent. The corn maze was overgrown with weeds only saw two stalks of corn. The petting zoo was just a few animals in a fenced in pen that the children had to stick their hands between the fence. Also still had to pay and additional $1.00 to feed them. The hayride was okay but the tour of the property was a sight for sore eyes. Very junky and run down. The pumpkin patch was hardly one at all. Just a few pumpkins laying on the ground. This attraction was awful and not worth the money at all!!!! Very disappointed! "

  A visitor writes on October 17, 2010: "A previous visitor's comment criticizing Berry Patch Farms for not having grown their own pumpkins was a bit unfair, I thought. Despite this comment, my husband, 10 month old son and I visited the farm today since it was close by. We were happily surprised. Sure the pumpkins weren't grown there, but the entire atmosphere was wonderful (and free!!) They had all sorts of employees directing traffic for parking, constant free hayrides back and forth to the field of pumpkins, a few farm animals (not for petting, but fun to watch, nonetheless) and food for very reasonable prices. If you have small children, its a lot of fun to go on a hayride up to pick out a pumpkin. I mean, c'mon -- of course the pumpkins are going to be more expensive than at the store! You are paying for the experiences offered in that entire environment. When you pay for a pumpkin at one of these places, you are also paying for the hayride, the animal upkeep, the tractors, the employees to help direct traffic, all of that goes into the 87 cents/pd price of the pumpkin. Since when does a grocery store give you a hayride to its field of pumpkins? Expecting these pumpkin prices to be comparable to a grocery store's pumpkins is like going to communion to try to get drunk. We had a fabulous time, and even better, didn't spend any money except for the $3 hotdogs, $2 homemade ice cream, and $1 apple cider. Plus we got a ton of beautiful photos out of it. "
  A visitor writes on October 04, 2010: "This farm is in the Atlanta area, specifcally in Woodstock Georgia. The description leads one to believe it is a pick your own pumpkin, impotantly from a pumpkin patch, when in reality it is a pick your own pumpkin from a collection of pre-picked pumpkins shipped from Michigan! Very misleading and quite dissapointed upon arrival. To add to the dissapointment, the pumpkins were highly overpriced at nearly $1 a pound. For pumpkins shipped from Michigan, without any sweat and toil in the price, that is steep. I could get the same pumpkins, shipped from closer at a whole foods in Atlanta for half the price. "

  A visitor writes on October 18, 2010: We really enjoyed it... BUT- we never saw a "pumpkin patch" all we saw were pumpkins they had over for sale... and a couple "photo ops" Restrooms need to be clarified as port o lets.. But We loved it... They were super nice and it was fun... We were there for 3 hours! We actually joined up with a school group, as today was the only day we could go and they only did group reservations...  But - We did a hay ride (got to feed the horses) and much more. Loved it!"

Church Pumpkin Patches and Fall Festivals

These are usually sales of pumpkins spread out on the lawn in front of the church.  Some combine them with bbq other food or activities:
