This page provides a detailed list of Chicago and northern Illinois's pumpkin patches! Click here to see the listings of pumpkin patches, corn mazes and farms in Chicago and northern Illinois or just scroll down the page! Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some are simple roadside stands. All should have loads of pumpkins to choose from. To really make it fun for your kids, look for those that have the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride. There is usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the more elaborate mazes tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free. A visitor writes on September 18, 2010: "My boyfriend and I decided to go out to this farm last year to get a pumpkin and do some apple picking. We drove from downtown and had a blast, even though its geared more towards families with children (and we don't have any). We will definitely be going back this year..... maybe for a tree as well!"
A visitor writes on October 05, 2008: "My In-Laws have been going there for a couple years and that is all they can talk about for weeks. This years I brought my Family there and we had a blast ! ! ! ! I can't wait until next year ! ! ! ! My 3 year old Daughter loved it and my 22 year old Brother loved it too ! ! ! ! My Mother can't wait until next year also ! ! ! ! "
A visitor writes on October 06, 2008: "We went to the farm this weekend, and although it started to rain while we were there, we still had a great time (my husband, me and our 5-year-old). This is a very big farm with something for everyone, literally, and plenty of low-hanging apples for kids to pick. We chose this farm over others on your excellent website because of the variety of apples they offer--we wanted some for eating, some for pies, and some to make applesauce, and we need different types for that (pie apples need to be firm). There are dozens of varieties of apples, inclduing some we weren't familiar with (Gold Rush, Ida Red), though not all areas are open for picking each day--depends on ripeness, etc. The admission charge is kind of expensive, but at the same time the apple prices were comparable to what I pay in my local grocery store (it was $14.00 for 10 pounds, so $1.40 a pound--less than at my local Jewel and certainly less than Whole Foods, though these apples are not organic as far as I know). They also have a cool 5-acre corn maze, and a whole farm of attractions across the street, includng pumpkin patch and pony rides and petting zoo, which we skipped this time due to the rain getting heavier. They also have a bakery and an outdoor food tent which had something for each of us (braturst, cheeseburgers, hot dog and very, very good apple cider donuts, which I don't usually like, but these were lighter and more flavorful than most). We also bought their cider which we thought was very good quality. Every sngle person was friendly despite the bad weather and crowds, and they have a lot of helpers everywhere you go. Our final verdict is that we will definitely go back! If you do not like a big farm with lots going on, I would choose a smaller place that just has apples, and perhaps it will be cheaper. You will end up spending more money here because there is a lot to do and to buy, but we kind of knew going into it that we'd spend some money on this once-a-year outing, so we didn't mind. Out of 5 stars, we'd give it 5!"
A visitor writes on December 08, 2008: "I LOVE THIS PLACE! We have been coming for three years now, and absolute fell in love with their Amaizing Corn Maize, and also with their kiddie section, that is actually not just for kids. The second corn maize that you can ring their bell once you find it is fun for all ages as is their new shed with hay bale. My kids had a blast this fall, and we easily spent the day there. Too much to do, and they slept like babies afterwards! The apples were delicious, and again, this was a fun outing for my kids. This is a clean, friendly, clever place. The Amaizing Corn Maize is just so fun, with Victory Lane, tall flag banners, and very clever puns throughout. Kuiper's is the best; just wish they were closer to my home, but it was still worth the drive, and we will come back every year. Keep up the great work! It gets better and bigger every year, and that's wonderful." - Norton’s Produce

A visitor writes on September 16, 2012: "I have been going to Tanner's since I was a little girl and now take time out to drive my family a fair distance to visit them every year. We absolutely love the variety of activities, food choices, market items and fun we have when there. I have also taken my girl scouts to do their tour for kids, however they are strict in scheduling these only during their designated time. The tour is a great option and provides a lot. Covered wagon rides out to the orchard and pumpkin patch, samples of donuts and cider (1 donut per person and Gallon(s) of cider, color books, behind scene tour of packing, storing, cider making areas, etc. plus access to the back 40 activity/playground area is included in the price. I have a blast every time I visit Tanners Orchard. The people are friendly, the food is good, and the price is right. And it's fun! My husband and I are addicted and visit frequently every year."

There were a lot of fun things for my 2 and 4 year old to do, but the place was overrun with teenagers who were actually playing in the areas meant for the younger children despite numerous activities that would have been more appropriate. Needless to say, we did not get our money's worth. I would suggest that anyone with young children go here while older children are in school and be prepared to pay more than most other places to get in." -

(Occasionally misspelled "Bengston" or "Bengston's")(UPDATED: February 17, 2009)
A visitor writes on October 25, 2009: "I will agree this place is OVERLY commercialized..I have been here once before, and while it is "nice", it is ridiculously overpriced..I mean to pay $30.00 (could be a little more) just for myself, husband and daughter to walk THRU THE DOOR, not including the prices of pumpkins or other things..it's ridiculous..There are plenty of pumpkin patches in the chicagoland area with nearly the same amentities that don't charge an entrance fee anywhere near to that magnitude, or don't charge an entrance fee at all..Bengtston's Pumpkin Patch is WAY overpriced..save your money for the actual pumpkins or other things you want to buy and not ridiculous profits into their own pockets."
A visitor writes on October 06, 2009: "I live behind this farm - it has changed alot in the last 10 years - it is now very commercial and expensive. They haven't had a u-pick section in years, they no longer grow their own pumpkins at all, they are shipped in. The "hay-rides" don't have any hay-its just a tractor pulled people-mover.
A visitor writes on February 17, 2009: "I absolutely love this place... They have tons of stuff here like a hayride that takes you out to the pumpkin patch, a haunted barn, a fun barn, a halloween shop, pig races, a corn maze, many animated displays, rides, food, a pumpkin launcher, pony rides, a petting zoo, fake cows you can milk, and more. It is definitely the most popular pumpkin farm in the Cook County area and was even voted the best pumpkin farm in the chicagoland area. I have been going here with my family for close to 20 years now and it is honestly one of my favorite places in the world. There is a wide variety of activities and it is just a wonderful atmosphere(although it does get very crowded at times). I love watching the animated scenes and the pig races are also entertaining. The haunted barn has some really cool scenes as well. The fun barn is great for younger kids."
A visitor writes on July 17, 2008: "Bengston's is very commercial. While there may be some u-pick pumpkins mainly there are just big piles of pumpkins that we doubted were grown there. If you are looking for an old fashioned lazy farm atmosphere this is not it. It is just an expensive mechanical mayhem. My family and I were very disappointed with our visit to pick apples. We were each charged a "field fee" of $3 a person PLUS the cost of our apples. We had to pay $12 before we even picked an apple! My husband was so outraged he wanted to leave but we had already promised our 3 and 5 year old children we were picking apples. The only varieties they had were standard "store type" kinds like Braeburn and Delicious. The trip ended up costing us close to $40 for 2 bags of apples. Never go again!" -

A visitor writes on October 20, 2012: "I decided to try Johansen Pumpkin Patch today after researching on your and there personal website. My son and I had a GREAT time and what I have found to be most 'bang for your buck'. Although we missed going to the field to pick our own pumpkin we enjoyed finding one from the large variety offered. After that we moved on to the petting zoo area which is $10.50 unlimited except pony rides. The petting zoo was fantastic. My son and I enjoyed most holding the baby chicks. There are so adorable and so many different ones. One side had the really small babies and other side were probably just few weeks older. We each held at least ten. Then we moved on the petting and feeding the friendly goats, sheeps, and lamps. Mama pig and piglets, donkey, birds, chickens, and turkeys were fun to look at-sorry no petting these animals. Overrall the animals and property looked well cared for. There were quite a few rides to choose from for all ages which is unlimited as well. We did the hayride-short circle around ride around the corn field. My son enjoyed bouncy house and inflatable side with the other kids. I like they had 3 slides so no long waits. Unfortunately, we ran out of the time to do the train ride-it was getting cold. Also, we tried few treats such as Apple Cider doughnuts which they kept bringing out fresh. I'm not usually a big fan but these were good. It was nice to samples some of the items they sell like apple and pumpkin pie, pumpkin and banana bread, several different spreads which were all tasty. I was a bit disappointed they different offer a better food selection for the season like kettle or roasted corn. Only hotdogs, nachos, regular popcorn, soda. I highly recommend this pumpkin farm so much to do for the money as they can be quite costly. Great for all ages. Already planning on going again next year:) "
A visitor writes on October 13, 2010: "This "farm" is awful. We paid $42 for 2 adults and 2 children to get into the zoo, which consisted of some goats, chicks and rabbits in filthy enclosures, some filthy bounce houses/slides and a bunch of plywood cutout Halloween decorations. The pony ride was closed (on a Saturday in October). Really horrible experience, it makes me sick that I paid so much for it."

A visitor writes on October 06, 2009: "Konow's Corn Maze is a fun, more traditional family place and more low key (compared to Bengtston's), with actual hay on their rides and the corn maze can't be topped. They had a corn pit near the concession stand for the kids to play in, not sure if it's still there but the kids love it

I love how they have an actually pumpkin field were the kids can learn where pumpkins are actually grown and pick them themselves. They also have so many attractions included in the admission which is great. I hate going somewhere having to pay admission but then have to pay for just about everything else that there. This is our new place to go every year in the fall. "
A visitor writes on September 26, 2010: "I visited Siegel's Cottonwood Farm for the first and only time in Fall 2009. I called first to ask about the corn maze. According to the website and a person on the phone they were open until 6:00. We got there at about 4:00 figuring that 2 hours should be plenty of time. After only 30 minutes in the maze an employ came in and asked us to leave as the maze closes an hour before the rest of the farm. The website should have said that...the woman on the phone could have told us...the woman who sold us the tickets should have told us...and the employee who let us into the maze definitely should have told us! One trip to the manager later, we were allowed back into the maze for another 20 minutes. We will go to a different maze from now on." -

Tom was so very nice and welcoming along with his welcoming committee, which were two adorable 6 month old kittens that greet you. We were able to pull our son in their wagon, look for pumpkins for as long as we like, and cut them ourselves. You can't beat the price for their pumpkins and the great experience we had. It was truly a happy day and a fantastic memory we will always cherish. Thank you Tom, hope to see you next year! " -
