This page provides a
detailed list of Columbus and surrounding counties's pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hay rides
and other Halloween farm stuff!! Click here to see the listings of pumpkin patches, corn mazes and farms in Columbus and surrounding counties Ohio or just scroll down the
page! Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some
are simple roadside stands. All should have loads of pumpkins to choose
from. To really make it fun for your kids, look for those that have
the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride. There is
usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the more elaborate mazes
tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free.
ALWAYS call before you go to confirm all information, they don't always report changes to me!
We have loads of related resources
here, too.
On our Pick-your-own website, we also have pages with our own
simple
instructions on canning, freezing and drying many other fruits and
vegetables, such as how to make jam, apple
butter, applesauce, spaghetti
sauce, salsa, pickles,
ketchup or freezing
corn (these links open new pages, just close them to return here). Be sure to come back at Christmas if you are looking
for a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm!
Look at the bottom of the page for links to resources on home canning, picking
tips, recipes, etc..
I'm always looking for
more to add and feedback about any patch, stand or farm you have visited, so write me using the

a farm and want to add it or correct the information, please click on

Fall Farm Festival
is on Saturday, October 1st & Sunday, October 2nd 2005. Every year
we prepare one of our fields for pumpkins. We have had some
outstanding pumpkins grown here over the past several years, and we
look forward to another good crop this year! There are two ways to
find just the right pumpkin for your family. The most exciting way
is to "pick your own" pumpkin directly from our field. We will be
running the Pick Your Own Pumpkins on Saturdays and Sundays starting
September 24 through October 9th. We may be able to run the pick
your own pumpkins through October 16th if our crop is large enough.
To choose your pumpkin this way, purchase a ticket at Cowvin's Snack
Shop located between the Dairy Store and the Barn, then get on the
wagon ride that goes to the Pumpkin Patch. After arriving at the
field, get off the wagon and look (and look) until you find just the
right pumpkin (or pumpkins!) to fit your needs. This is a great way
to have fun, enjoy a wagon ride, and get a fresh pumpkin all at the
same time. The 2005 cost is $5.00 per pumpkin, which includes the
wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. Another way to find your special
pumpkin is to look through the many pumpkins we harvest from the
field and display next to the Dairy Store. There are always several
thousand small pumpkins that sell for $1.50 in 2005. Animal Petting
Area open from 10 AM to 10 pm April through October. Closes at 6 pm
November through March. Group Farm Tours open Monday through Friday
from April 9th through October 29th. Call for times available and
scheduling. Tours must be scheduled in advance. Cowvin's Corny Maze
begins Saturday, September 4th and operates through October every
Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 pm (weather permitting. Call to
be sure it is open). Golden Jersey Inn: 937-324-2050, Udders &
Putters: 937-325-0502, Catering/Group Picnic: 937-525-0883.

(UPDATED:
October 05, 2008)
A visitor writes on October 27, 2009:
(positive) "We went to
Circle S Farms last week and it was wonderful. They have a couple of
mazes, some animals, and a great little barn full of hay. The barn also
had slides coming down the hay, which my two year old daughter loved.
Many pumpkin patches that I have gone to the pumpkins are just placed in
a field, but these were still growing and attached, which I thought was
great. I would definitely recommend visiting (and the group rate is
cheaper if you are interested)" A visitor writes on October 15, 2009: (negative)
"My family has been to the Circle S farms twice now - once in
2006 and then in 2008. We loved the 2006 trip and one of our favorite
family pictures is from that trip. I decided last year to do it again
but was so disappointed. The bees were a HUGE issue. I think it's
because we hadn't had a cold front yet that year so the bees were
EVERYWHERE. My husband even got stung when we went to get our stroller
and there were bees covering the stroller. The assortment of pumpkins in
the field were a bit sparse as well. AND I can say that I didn't feel
like that bees were just where the food was. When we were waiting for
the tractor to take us to the pumpkin field, I actually threw away my
drink since I didn't want to draw anything more to me than was already
there. To be honest, we kind of felt ripped off last year and it soured
our impression of the place we enjoyed so much in 2006. " A visitor writes on October 04, 2009: (negative)
"My fiance and I just got home from visiting Circle S Farm and we were
very disappointed. After paying a $22 cover fee ($8 visitor fee and $3
pumpkin fee per person) we walked through the concession area to see
what goodies they had in store. Well I guess we got there too late (it
was 2pm mind you) because their goodies have already been picked over.
Next we decided to go on the hayride so that we could pick our own
pumpkins from the field. After arriving at the field we walked around
for a few minutes and shortly realized that all of the good sized
pumpkins were gone. The only pumpkins left to pick from were very small.
We have been to other pumpkin patches in the past and we know what to
and not to expect for pumpkin sizes. Well the sizes that were available
for our choosing were very poor. To make matters worse we felt extremely
rushed while in the field. We probably were only looking around for
about 5 minutes when we realized everyone had already loaded back on to
the wagons to go back to the farm. Well I guess the driver wasn't ok
with letting us walk around by ourselves because we were about to be
approached by the driver when we realized what was going on. Once back
on the farm we realized why the pumpkin selections were so poor, all of
the decent sized pumpkins were already picked and for sale at .40 cents
a pound. Well since we were so disappointed with our tiny pumpkins (sub
10 pounds a piece) we decided to splurge on two larger sized pumpkins.
The only good thing I can say about this farm is at least we were able
to leave with 2 decent sized pumpkins but that was only after paying $70
(2 large pumpkins and 2 visitor + pumpkin fee). Trust me on this, save
your money and go somewhere else!" A visitor writes on August 14, 2009:
(positive) "This is a great farm. I
take the preschoolers every year for pumpkins and they have a great
time. The farm is clean, has great activities and the pumpkins are
always big and orange. We went strawberry picking this summer and once
again had a wonderful time. Great Farm!" A visitor writes on October 15, 2008:
(negative) "Not happy
at all with this farm, tried it last year for the first time was not
happy, but gave them a second change this year and even more disapointed.
Should be called a bee farm-bees were every where because of the trash
sitting in the containers, not clean around the farm. Food was overly
priced, people were not very friendly-" A visitor writes on October 23, 2008:
(positive) "We
just got back from Circle S Farm & had a great time! A barn with hay &
slides, a maize, hay ride to pick the pumkin. We took 2 three year olds
that had a blast. I noticed another person posted a negative comment.
There were a few bees around the eating area (you get a ticket for a
doughnut & apple juice with the cost of admission). This was mildly
annoying but it certainly didn't ruin our trip. I would go back again &
would recommend it to others. "
A visitor writes on October 26, 2008: (positive) "about
the bee comment.. there were a few bees next to the food area but it
wasnt that bad. It is $8 per person to get in children under 2 are free.
Make sure to go on the hay ride to get your pumpkin last because it
drops you back off in the parking lot so you dont have to lug your
pumpkin around but it is a walk to get back so it is easier to do all
activites and end with hay ride to the pumpkin patch and be dropped off
near your car. they also had a petting zoo which my kids 3&5 loved!! We
will be going again next year or summer for the strawberries :)"

August 14, 2009: "I live near this farm so one day my husband and I
stopped by to get some apple cider. After that night I will never set
foot on that property again. Neither of us could leave the restroom. Do
not take your children there!" A visitor writes on October 13, 2008: "I was
extremely disappointed by this farm and the pick-your-own pumpkin patch.
The property itself was not well taken care of. There was "stuff"
everywhere. From broken down farm equipment, to broken refrigerators and
old farm trucks. The hayride left much to be desired. The distance was
about 400 yards, lasted 10 minutes and included old tractors and
combines as its only scenery. The pumpkin patch was hardly that. It was
about 20 pumpkins randomly placed in a field. The pumpkins were already
cut off the vine and it didn’t look like this was where the pumpkins
were even grown. The only animals to be seen on the entire farm were a
few pigs and they had an old tractor right in the middle of their pen.
We purchased our sad little pumpkins and thought we might check out the
produce building before we left, even though we were extremely
dissatisfied with the hayride and pumpkin patch experience. The produce
building/farmers market was not any better. The barn where all this was
set up was full of JUNK!!! Literally full of it. I think out of the
entire size of the barn, only about 25% was being used to sell produce,
ever though you could see the piles and piles of stuff everwhere. There
were lots of pumpkins and gourds to choose from but all the other
produce looked pretty terrible. I was really looking forward to a nice
fall day, with pumpkins and farm animals, and this place was AWFUL. I
would not recommend it to anyone. " A visitor writes on October 14, 2008: "this
place was not at all the way they make it sound! it was a mess i would
not go back there. the place looked as if some had used it for a dump. i
have to agree with the last note made this place is not what it is said
to be. "

A visitor writes on October 19, 2010: "This farm was
delightful. We wanted one where we got to go into the fields, so that
narrowed it down a bit, but they also had some by the main barn if you
wanted to just pick one without the walk. Playing in grain bins was
like sand boxes with a inch or so of whole corn kernels with pails,
shovels and trucks. Our three years old didn't want to leave. We went
on a week night and it was not crowded but enough new friends for the
kids to run around with. For it being a farm it was very clean. "
A
visitor writes on August 11, 2010: "We LOVE this farm for fall/pumpkin
patch! They are family owned farm with wonderful, helpful, friendly folks.
Very family/children friendly. We go every fall for the kid's hay maze and
blow up play area as well as the ride out to the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin
doughnuts a awesome and the prices are reasonable. We are a family with 5
children so price is important to us. We also go every year for strawberry
and raspberry picking, yummy. Give them a try - you won't be disappointed!"

October 02, 2011: "We took our 2 year old daughter for her first
pumpkin patch experience. Prices were very reasonable ( $8 a person
includes a pumpkin, and free under 3 years of age) We had an awesome
time playing in the dirt, and the workers were very friendly. We got
lost in the corn maze, walked around the pumpkin patch for 30 minutes
or so just exploring, the tractor driver told us to have fun and that
more tractors would come by to pick us up. Finished up with petting a
baby cow and some bunnies and splashing in mud puddles. The cider was
delicious and brought home a pumpkin roll too. We will definitely be
making this a yearly tradition." A visitor writes on October 26,
2009: "My husband and I brought our three children with us to this
farm and we had a great time. The people who work there are friendly
and helpful and the kids loved it. They had plenty of pumpkins to pick
from in the field and the corn maze was the best part. The kids want
to come back again. They also have a concession stand that is
reasonably priced. Thank you Kuhlwein's for a wonderful experience. We
will definitely be back next year. " A visitor writes on October 18, 2009:

description. It's not overpriced and my son had a blast. He can not stop
talking about it. The hay ride takes you out to the corn maze and once
you get through it, your in the pumpkin patch picking pumpkins. The

October 01, 2011: "This was our first year taking the kids out there
and it was wonderful! We were very happy at how clean and tidy the farm
was, even in the rain. It was raining when we visited but other than
seeing the rain, the farm looked like it hadn't been touched by it. The
prices were very reasonable as well, I have a large family so I am
always money watching. We spent almost the same amount that another farm
was asking and got 4 more Pumpkins than what the other farm offered! The
rides were wonderful, my girls loved them and the paint your own
Pumpkin. The people there couldn't have been nicer, everyone made it a
point to smile. It really did make the atmosphere feel much more family
oriented and I loved that fact. Not to mention they actually spoke to
us, making us feel very welcome. They were not just standing there like
drones taking our money. It was an all around great family quality time.
The only thing that I was a tad bit disappointed in was the sandwich I
had bought, the bun was still partially frozen and there wasn't awhole
lot of meat. As for everyone elses food it was great! All around a great
farm and we will be attending again next year! Also, I would recommend a
large bottle of the Apple and Pumpkin butters, I assure small one is not
enough! " A visitor writes on
October 11, 2009: "We loved our visit there! We bought our daughter
an all day pass and she loved all the activities, we met grandparents

staff members went above and beyond to provide friendly service and an
enjoyable experience. We were truly able to relax for the day and let

pick pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and apples. They also got a tour of
the apple warehouse and learned all about how the apples are prepared
for selling in our stores. All of the employees were very kind and
helpful. The tractor ride was awesome..they took the kids for a very
long ride. I understand that some of the activities were cancelled but
weather cannot be controlled. I would not hold this against the farm

this farm to anyone who wants to take the kids out for a day of fun." Does anyone else have a comment, positive or negative, about

(UPDATED: November 30, 2009) A visitor writes on October
26, 2011: "I went to this farm last weekend with my daughters and other
family members that had traveled from out of town that day and we had bought
2 pumpkins, each for $15.00. Once we proceeded to carve the pumpkins both of
them were rotten on the inside. What a lousy ending to something that should
have been fun. We did not pick the pumpkins ourselves from the field but got
them from the market area. You would think that those pumpkins that cost
more would be better picked out. There went $30.00 down the drain. Never
going there again!!!"
