This page provides a
detailed list of long Island, NY's and Statan Island's pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hay rides
and other Halloween farm stuff!! Just scroll down this
page! Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some
are simple roadside stands. All should have loads of pumpkins to choose
from. To really make it fun for your kids, look for those that have
the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride. There is
usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the more elaborate mazes
tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free.
ALWAYS call before you go to confirm all information, they don't always report changes to me!
For other areas of NY State, see the
map!
We have loads of related resources
here, too.
On our Pick-your-own website, we also have pages with our own
simple
instructions on canning, freezing and drying many other fruits and
vegetables, such as how to make jam, apple
butter, applesauce, spaghetti
sauce, salsa, pickles,
ketchup or freezing
corn (these links open new pages, just close them to return here). Be sure to come back at Christmas if you are looking
for a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm!
Look at the bottom of the page for links to resources on home canning, picking
tips, recipes, etc..
I'm always looking for
more to add and feedback about any patch, stand or farm you have visited, so write me using the Feedback
form! And if you have
a farm and want to add it or correct the information, please click on Add My Farm!
Remember: ALWAYS call (or follow the link to the farm's own website, if the name
is a blue link) to confirm the information before you go! They may close,
run out or change events, times, etc. without notifying me!
Be sure to click on the links to
the farm's web pages for more information, directions, etc.

your site, my family and I went to the Queens County Farm Museum today. My
son (3) and daughter (1) loved the hayride and the corn maize. My husband
and I thought that the corn maize was great---loved the puzzles and the
mailboxes as it kept our kids entertained while they enjoyed exploring. We
also grabbed a bite to eat, bought some food at the farmers market and
visited the animals on the farm. It was a fun experience for all of us! We

pumpkins to choose from. The kids love taking the pumpkins off the
vine. Thank god for wheel barrels! I like watching the kids juggle
what they try to carry, but I'm not interested in juggling. Enjou the

"We enjoyed this farm because you have one
fee. $12.00 per person but you can go on as many hayrides, through the
corn maze, see the animal farm, the kids can use the bounce house and
do and see many other things for no extra cost. The only extra we had
to pay was if we wanted to have a pony/horse ride or ride the moo
train. Pumpkins are picked from the field where they are grown and
still on the vines. Food stand has great farm oriented food and there
is also a place you can buy old fashion candy and popcorn. Many hours
can be spent there with lots to do. Great family place. Farm stand up
front has a great selection of pumpkins/gourds/plants/holiday
decorations/fruits and veggies and much more. Very clean stand and
nice people. You can buy your pumpkins there if you don't want to pick
your own" A visitor

"This farm is definately very family
oriented. Refreshments available on site such as roasted corn, turkey
legs, homebaked products, candy apples and much more things found at a
farm festival." A visitor writes on September 18, 2010:
(positive) "Visited the farm today (9/18/10) for the
first day of the Fall Festival with my husband and 2 year old son. We
all had a great time! I highly recommend this farm for a fall family
outing. There was a $12 admission (my son was free) and it included
the farm, corn maze, unlimited hayride, pumpkin slingshot and use of
the picnic and playground area. My son loved feeding the animals. We
also paid an add'l $2 to ride the "moo moo" train. The operator only
charged us for our son and allowed my husband and I to ride for free.
My son also got a free mini pumpkin on the hayride. The farm also
offers a very large pick-your-own pumpkin field and the pumpkins are
still attached to the vine. We picked 4 medium sized pumpkins and it
cost us $20 bucks. Very reasonably priced but experience itself was
priceless...it sure beats paying $5 bucks at a local supermarket for a
pumpkin. We didn't try the corn maze but it was a very large course.
There was also a market area that sold both food and fall decorations
but we didn't get to check it out b/c our son was getting tired. The
overall experience was A+. Maybe it's still early in the season but
the farm was not crowded at all. The staff was very nice and
courteous. Will definitely visit again. " A visitor writes on October 30, 2009:
(positive) "I've been to Finks Farm and their
pumpkins are in a pumpkin patch grown on the vine and the hayride goes
way back behind their maze. The person who wrote that their pumpkins
were placed in a fenced area and the corn cannon was closed must be
mistaken. They must have visited another farm in the local area that
offers almost the same as Finks. I've seen both. Finks has a seven
acre corn maze that we were not able to go completely through. The guy
in the tower had to show us the way out. The last entry sounds like
sour grapes and wrong information. I would recomend Finks to all.
A visitor writes on October 25, 2009:
(negative) "Pumpkins
were not on the vine as advertised, just thrown together in a small
fenced in area Hayride was about 1/8 of a mile and barely got away
from the main area pumpkin slingshot was not available I won the corn
canon and was awarded a rotted pumpkin the corn maze was through 4
foot corn stalks you could see over and they were dead and bare to
make it even worse. The only good thing about this place was the
kiddie area. Unfortunately we did not have kids so the experience was
not that great for us. I would not recommend this farm." A visitor writes on October 05, 2009:

$12.00 per person anywhere until you actually get there but that is
actually false. The website is very informative and clears up any
questions you may have. Also I called before I went and the answering
machine also had a message about the admission fee. As long as you do
your research you should be ok. It is a great place, great times for
the whole family!" A visitor writes on September 25, 2009:

pumpkins, play on a real combine, rope calfs, feed the animals, and so
so much more!! They actually have real pick your own pumpkins right off
the vine! Everyone loved the kiddie train. The whole family got to go
for a ride! The Hayride was great with music and dancing! The 7 acre
corn maze was great. We will be coming back next year for sure."

cub house, corn tunnel, corn kernel box, and more. All children ages 2

without a smile. Sincerely, David & Michelle Fink" A visitor writes on October 06, 2008:

farm charges $12.00 to pick pumpkins. This is an admission fee that they
don't advertise anywhere until you arrive with 6 adults and 2 kids
wanting to pick pumpkins. They do not apply the admission fee to your
purchase. It was very upsetting to arrive with Grndma, Grandpa, Aunt,
Uncle, Mom, Dad and two kids under 2 and be told to pay $72.00 just to
walk in the field. Please let others know in advance before they drive
all the way there. Thanks " A visitor writes on October 06, 2008:

hours..so much to do and so affordable. THE BEST Farm Festival in
years!!! The staff was so nice and so patient with all the kids!! My
daughter loved the animals and went on her first ponyride. We went on
two hayrides, the kiddie train 3 times, went through the corn maze,
picked pumpkins, had our faces painted and The Fall Western Photo center
was a blast!!! Pictures and memories that will last a LIFETIME. Not to
mention the food was great to. Homemade breads, corn right off the
cob..We plan on going pack every year!!!! It was so nice seeing good
wholesome fun! I heard they even offer Birthday party packages!!! THANK
YOU FINK'S FARM!!!" A visitor writes on October 01, 2008:

just have to say i visited finks farm this past weekend. i cannot
believe how much they have to do there. we were there for over 4 hours,
from seeing all the animals, to feeding the goats by spinning a wheel,
going through a corn maze, which i found out was mickey mouse on a
tractor! the kids even took a ride on a kiddie train, which looks like a
cow, slinging pumpkins, to air shooting corn! my kids loved playing in
the corn kernels and on the combine slide. there is even a place to have
lunch, get your face painted and have your fall photo taken, and as your
ready to leave, you can purchase mums and decorations at the farmstand.
this place was awesome, and the kids cannot wait to go back. oh yes and
the best is, you can pick your own pumpkins off of a vine. now that is
something you rarely see. i would def. recommend this to people because
it has been massed email from my end!! hope you can enjoy like i did!!" A visitor writes on September 14, 2008:

(UPDATED: September 22, 2011, from their website) A visitor writes on October 05, 2009: "We visited the farm
on Sunday, October 4, 2009. We had a 3 year old with us. The farm was
beautiful. The staff were great. There is plenty to keep a toddler
busy and happy. By far, the most enjoyable part for me was the area
with goats and sheep and chickens and ducks. The goats and sheep were
as friendly as a family dog. They were so clean one would think they
had been to the spa. I could have forgotten to go pick pumpkins,
eggplant and string beans because I was so busy with the goats and
sheep! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will surely come again.
So far, this was the most pleasant farm we have gone to. My

October 03, 2009)
A visitor writes on October 12, 2010: "October 2010 - we
went out to Windy Acres this past weekend, and I agree with the most
recent comment that it was a disappointment this year. The farm
animals were moved off way to one side...the horses were pretty, but
they had a lot less animals this year and the kids couldn't touch/feed
them (disappointment). The picnic tables and open play areas for the
kids are still great - and the selection of pumpkins was great as
always. The pies are still very pricey - $15.00 per pie (YIKES!), so
needless to say we haven't tried them yet because they are just too
expensive. As for apples - apple pickin is the best mid-late September
at mostly all the farms. " A visitor writes on September 25, 2010: "I believe I was
the one who first suggested these guys last year and last year they
were great. Windy Acres was a total disappointment this year. Just got
back from there. What was a fun petting zoo was now three sad horses,
a cow and a donkey, none of which could be touched or fed. There were
no apples and they said the season was over, but up the road at Lewin
's there were thousands of apples available. Most of what they had was
trucked in from other places. In short, I wouldn 't rush back next
year." A visitor writes on October 03, 2009: "Can't wait to go
back and bring the grandkids. Well-maintained porta-potties. Petting
zoo, picnic tables, huge outdoor play park, hot food kiosks, baked
goods, jellies etc. "
