Looking for a local pumpkin patch, corn maze, hayride, gourds and other Halloween activities in Lexington and North-central Kentucky? Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some are simple roadside stands. Most have loads of pumpkins to choose from. To really make it fun for your kids, look for those that have the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride. There is usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the more elaborate mazes tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free. ALWAYS call before you go to confirm the info, they don't always report changes to me!

Bluegrass Scenic Railroad Pumpkin Patch Train - pumpkin train ride,

Every Saturday in October, we will be running our ever-popular Pumpkin Patch Trains. Bluegrass Scenic Railroad facebook page. In addition to our regular journey, we make an extra stop on the way back from the Kentucky River at the non-profit Life Adventure Center where you can purchase your holiday pumpkins and enjoy refreshments. You have a choice of two departure times on those Saturdays, one at 11:00 am and one 2:30 pm. Note that boarding begins 30 minutes prior to each departure time so that we can leave on-time.
The Life Adventure Center is asking for a donation of 2023 price: $3 for small pumpkins and $5 for large pumpkins (exact change or credit cards please). Passengers will bring their purchases back on board the train to continue their ride back to the station. We are charging our special event ticket prices for these train rides. All proceeds from tickets and pumpkin sales go to support the non-profit organizations hosting the patch.
**Note that there are restrooms at the museum station, but there are NO restrooms on the train or at the Kentucky River stop. The trip will last about 2 hours.
We are handicap accessible and the open-window coach cars can accommodate standard-sized wheelchairs.

Nostalgia Station Toy and Train Museum - unrelated, but fun for children and train buffs

Open: Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, No pumpkins, but kids love it and it is near the Bluegrass train abovefeatures antique toys and trains from the 1890’s to the 1990’s. There are two operating dealer type train layouts (1926 version and 1956 version) in the museum along with several hundred Lionel, American Flyer, Ives, Marx, Bing, Carlisle and Finch, Dorfan, and Hafner trains and accessories in various gauges and styles. They are a Lionel “Value Added” authorized dealer selling train sets, accessories, track, and related items.
